Overview
Ilesfay offers global Engineering & Design Services firms (“EngPros”) a capability to easily add international customers by eliminating the barriers to data collaboration and replication.
When adding a customer, Engineering & Design firms are often challenged to easily and seamlessly exchange information within the customer’s product development teams. Historically, creating a secure and reliable data exchange capability has required a significant investment in dedicated hardware, software and telecom services. This investment, which is significant for the customer and the Engineering and Design firm, has been a stumbling block for the Engineering and Design firm, because prospective customers are hesitant to create (yet, another) dedicated point-to-point connection with new external supplier.
Now, with Ilesfay’s patented data replication techniques, PointToCloud and MatchMaking, Engineering & Design firms can securely replicate product-related data with any internet-enabled customer location. The traditional hardware/software costs and complex network implementations are no longer hindrances to data exchange and engineering collaboration and, therefore, the Engineering & Design firm can more rapidly add new customers.

Ilesfay’s PointToCloud capability replaces traditional methods of data replication, which are based on point-to-point networking. Distributed servers transmit files for replication and request replicated files from the Ilesfay Content Delivery Engine (“CDE”). The CDE, which resides globally within the cloud, acts as the international data delivery manager by distributing, replicating, and synchronizing data as requested by each of the participating sites. This remote site (i.e., point) to CDE (i.e., cloud) implementation is inherently more efficient than a point-to-point solution, because each location is only concerned with the local data needs and all global data delivery is centrally managed.

MatchMaking
Features
File size and access time has always been a substantial consideration for global engineering collaboration. Today, Engineering & Design Firms need access to the most current drawings, models, specifications, releases, etc., regardless of the file’s location, in order to provide the highest level of service. If the data transmission requirements adversely affect the timely distribution of these files, the Engineering & Design team will be significantly less effective, if they are allowed to participate at all.
MatchMaking, another component of the Ilesfay solution, incorporates pre-emptive binary-analysis to dramatically reduce the amount of data that is transmitted between each location. In effect, only small file differences (between the transmitting site and requesting site) are transmitted across the Ilesfay network. This means that Ilesfay is intelligently analyzing all files and file updates on a continuous basis. Unique to the approach is the ability to locate file matches without embedding “derived from” logic in the workflow or content management engine. This type of data analysis means the Ilesfay solution delivers substantially less data than a traditional “file copy” distribution method.
